What to Know About Listeria and Toxoplasmosis in Pregnancy

Listeria

It is always important to be aware of what you put in your body, especially during pregnancy.  Learning how to determine what is good and what is not is essential.  Listeria is a type of bacteria that can be formed in some contaminated foods and can cause problems for both you and your baby.

Toxoplasmosis

Toxoplasma gondii is a parasite that the solid wastes (feces) of cats may contain and cause toxoplasmosis, a rare but serious blood infection.  It can also be contracted by eating infected, undercooked meat or by eating contaminated fruit or vegetables.
